Anne Grimes has lived in this beautiful Welsh valley for the last thirty years. She wrote poetry at university and sporadically thereafter but began to write more seriously and consistently when her children were growing up. She worked in education as an English teacher and was head of the English Department of Ealing Grammer School for Girls before leaving to bring up her two childern. In Wales she has worked with disturbed boys in Lampeter and then as a lecturer in Further Education in Cardigan. She is a member of the Lampeter Writers Workshop run by Gillian Clarke.
Anne has had two books published. 'Heron's Way' and 'Alice's Cat' (The later still available through Peterloo press
http://www.peterloopoets.co.uk/ ) and has been published in numerous magazines and journals including She magazine, Envoi, Second Light, Poetry Wales, Interpreters House, New Welsh Review and others

She is currently finishing her third book

Ovum
as a blob
or silken glob
of milky albumen
contains a living spot
needs only the thrust of a male
a sperm with its quickening tail
to fertilize that quivering dot.
Then the process of life begins.
Sperm prints itself. A tadpole
foetus starts to grow
eyes, nose, limbs
a couples goal.
